A teen is waiting.
All teens struggle to find their identity in life—who they really are. Throughout Maryland there are teens who feel frightened, helpless, confused, and alone. Some have lost parents through divorce or death. Some are abused or neglected. Others are making poor choices with illegal drugs, alcohol, sex—or otherwise flirting with disaster.
These teens have yet to get in trouble with the law. But in reality, they are misguided and need assistance.
Many are not receiving the help they need.
Maryland has few treatment facilities of any kind for teenagers. There are only three Christian "family-style" residential facilities that, together, accommodate just over 100 teens—who are primarily placed by the Department of Juvenile Justice.
There is a huge gap in services for teens who have not been adjudicated.
Teen Factor will be there.
Teen Factor has been organized to build and operate a faith-based "family-style" residential facility to meet the needs of teens in distress. We will provide a Christian alternative for teens who need a safe place to get their lives back on track.
Treating the whole teen...
Teen Factor's approach treats mind, body and spirit. Our program is designed to heal each participant's past so he or she can deal with the present and look forward to the future.
The program is patterned on other highly successful "home model" programs, including Joy Ranch in Virginia, The Fold in Vermont, and Eagle Ranch in Georgia. While teens are on our campus—away from their families and their previous environments and lifestyles—they will have the opportunity to develop a new, balanced, healthy way of life.
Addressing individual needs.
Teen Factor's facilities will provide a developmental climate that addresses each teen's specific needs. Staff will be trained in applying and coordinating the appropriate therapeutic tools, including:

Our program is grounded in the belief that we are healed, changed, and set free through the faithfulness and grace of Christ.
Teen Factor will encourage each teen to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ—through Bible-based instruction, weekly church and youth services, Christian counseling, spiritual nurturing, prayer, and opportunities to serve others.
Every dimension of the Teen Factor program will help teens reach for the highest and best within them. Each day, they will be encouraged to fulfill God's desire for them to live holy and righteous lives.
Restoring teens and families
Teen Factor's approach focuses on the teen yet also reaches out to the whole family. Our goal is to heal, strengthen, and reunite the entire family by:
- Making counseling and support services available to parents, guardians, and siblings
- Facilitating processes that promote a healthy, supportive family environment
